New coach and Lee Strasberg...

Exciting news here at Marbella Film School!

Our teacher Nicole Moerland has landed a lead in a movie in Australia and therefore is going across to film in April. But don't worry, we have a new coach on the block!

Here's what he has to say:

Mark Rebernik:

I am very excited for the opportunity to teach at the Marbella Film School. I have been an actor for over twenty years, having worked on stage, television and in film. I trained in New York with Broadway director Gene Frankel and then in Los Angeles at the Lee Strasberg Institute. Later, I worked with director Milton Katselas at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.

While my acting technique is based on the Method, it is grounded firmly in truth. As the great teacher Boleslavsky stated, "Acting is living truthfully in a given set of circumstances." My job as a teacher is to guide the student to react truthfully in every scene and to instill three important qualities: relaxation, concentration and inspiration.

Acting is a fascinating, often exhilarating adventure. It is a process of self-discovery and a sharing of one's humanity with an audience. I look forward to the journey we will take together as actors. Let's create magic!

Usually at Marbella Film School we teach the Stella Adler technique, with a mix of different activities too, but we are excited to experiment with a new technique that has not yet been taught at the school! It's always exciting and fun to try new things, and you never know what might work better for furthering your acting career!

Here's a little bit about the Lee Strasberg technique!

An actor himself, Lee Strasberg’s method was inspired by Stanislavski’s system and the Moscow Art Theatre. His “method,” derived from Stanislavski, encourages actors to magnify and intensify their connection to the material by creating their characters’ emotional experiences in their own lives. Prior to his death in 1982, Strasberg trained many of the 20th century’s and today’s most legendary actors: James Dean, Ellen Burstyn, Al Pacino, Alec Baldwin, Marilyn Monroe, Julie Harris, Paul Newman, and Dustin Hoffman were all his students. His technique boasts many famous alumni as well, including Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson, and Steve Buscemi.
